Before visiting New York City I researched nice fun restaurants to visit and which ones had good vegetarian and vegan options. By Chloe caught my attention as it was very popular on Instagram, visited by many celebrities and also recommended by loads of people. By Chloe has multiple locations in New York (and the rest of the US), luckily one of them was close to our hotel. We visited the restaurant in Rockefeller Plaza, which is a great location as there’s a nice buzz on the streets. Being so close to Rockefeller Center it is perfect to combine sightseeing with some good veggie food.
The restaurant is very spacious, the interior is light, where simple basics are combined with fun wallprints, neonsigns and nice decorations. There are small cosy tables on the sides as well as a very large table in the middle, resulting in a fun, relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Besides food, you can also pop into By Chloe for natural dog biscuits and cute accessories.
By Chloe aims to share delicious, wholesome, plant-based food that fuels and energizes without compromising flavor, taste or satisfaction. The restaurant is open all day and the menu features breakfast, ‘all day dining’ options as well as meals to go. It also offers the possibility to order take away online and some locations have delivery, so you won’t ever have to miss out on your favorite vegan food!
We visited By Chloe for lunch, even though the breakfast options sounded delicious (smoothie bowls, scrambled tofu ‘eggs’, cinnamon rolls and pancakes to name a few), I could not leave America without eating burgers and fries. I mean, going to the USA isn’t complete without some junkfood right?! Luckily, By Chloe offers healthier options, which are cruelty free and of course vegan.
I went for the guac burger, one of the most popular options on the menu and now I know why! The burger is made of black beans, quinoa and sweet potato and served with corn salsa, lettuce, tomato, onion, tortilla strips and chipotle aioli on a wholegrain bun. It was delicious: very tasty, fresh and filling! My parents chose the other 2 burgers, one a whiskey bbq burger with portobello mushroom, the other a ‘classic’ burger made from tempeh, lentils, chia and walnuts. The funny thing about By Chloe I think is that the food we ordered (burgers and fries) was served as you are used to at fast food restaurants: on a tray, burgers in a wrap, fries in a cup next to it. Except By Chloe presents it in a nice way, I love their branding and packaging and it contributes to the experience of a fun, relaxed and delicious restaurant.
The food was as delicious as it looked, and more good news: I won’t have to travel all the way to America anymore for my next visit! 2 weeks ago they opened another location in London. Definitely worth a try for anyone loving cruelty free food, whether you are vegan or not there are plenty of delicious options on the menu- and most of them even healthy as well! It’s a win-win if you ask me!
