Favorite restaurants in Central Park, NYC

When I walked around New York City for the first time I constantly felt like I was in a movie. The yellow cabs, skyscrapers; I had seen them all on television a million times but now it was actually reality! Even walking around in Central Park felt unreal. Central park occupies an area of 3.41 km2 so if you want to discover the whole park you might get hungry on the way. I have lined up my favorite places below.

The Loeb Boathouse

Let me start with the most gorgeous place. The Loeb Boathouse is located on a big lake in the heart of the park and you can also rent boats there. The views are amazing and the outside decor with loads of fresh flowers is beautiful. I would recommend it for a romantic day although the restaurant itself is definitely family friendly as well. Next to the main restaurant there is a little terrace as well where you can have some drinks and admire the view. They are open for lunch and dinner and brunch during the weekends. Make sure to book a table in advance as it gets pretty busy in there.

Le Pain Quotidien

I am sure most people are familiar with Le Pain, it is a big restaurant chain with restaurants in different countries. They mostly use organic ingredients and they serve breakfast, lunch and brunch. The varied menu features different soups, salads, sandwiches but also sweeter options like waffles, pancakes, muffins and cakes. They have inside, outside and takeaway and the place always seems packed! While seated on the terrace you have the perfect spot for people watching: there are a lot of gym and yoga classes going on in the park around the restaurant.

Food Trucks

In the park you can find a lot of these small food trucks offering simple drinks and snacks, but also amazing made-on-the-spot crepes, bagels and pretzels. It is perfect for an afternoon snack and easy to take on the go.

Tavern on the Green

We visited NYC in the summer, and Tavern on the Green then has a large beer garden in their outside patio which has a great ambiance. The menu features dishes made with local and seasonal ingredients- it is a really nice place for an after work drink and snacks in the late afternoon I think.
