Often people who are not vegetarian do not realize how many cruelty free options there are on the menu, simply because they have never paid attention to it. This is also why I often get asked about things I usually eat in restaurants, as if there is only one option available. Thankfully we live in 2019 and vegan and vegetarian menus and options are on the rise! I have lined up some great restaurant chains for you that offers amazing vegetarian and vegan food.
Years ago Wagamama was already quite good for vegetarians, offering different curry and noodle dishes, but recently they have really stepped it up with a complete new vegan and vegetarian menu. They are now offering a lot more options: you are spoilt for choice for starters, mains and desserts. My favorites: bang bang cauliflower and yasai gyoza for starters and the yasai katsu curry as a main.
Similar to Wagamama, a few years ago the veggie options were vegetarian pizzas and salads. They also offered many gluten free options as well, but now Zizzi has become the master of vegan pizzas. Not only do they also offer a complete vegan/vegetarian menu next to the ‘normal’ menu, the vegan pizza with cheese made of coconut oil is the nicest I ever tasted. It is nice and creamy, creating that ‘melted cheese’ structure and the flavors are delicious. My favorite is the Vegan Pepperonata, which comes with fire roasted peppers, sunblush tomatoes, chillis and pea shots.
Las Iguanas is a Latin American restaurant chain, offering the most popular dishes from different Latin cuisines. They have also launched a vegan/vegetarian menu, and you are spoilt for choice. Let me warn you, it will be hard to make a decision! There is an amazing vegetarian coming from every country, whether you want fajitas, chili, curries or hotpot bowls, or stacked nacho’s: Las Iguanas has something for everyone
Pret a Manger
If you are on the go Pret is the place to be for a vegan or vegetarian friendly lunch. They offer many sandwiches, baguettes and salads and often it varies with the seasons. Not to mention the warm options of delicious soups and warm croissants.
